At the beginning of the summer, I was scouring the internet to find a storage solution for our master bathroom. We had a lot of space above the toilet I wanted to utilize. I did a round up of a bunch of different ideas and shared them here. Last month, we installed these bathroom shelves and I finally got around to taking some pictures 🙂 I chose the Ikea Exky Jarpen shelves with the Exby Bjarnum brackets. I liked that the brackets allowed for a floating look but they weren’t very easy to put up. We had to use a level to make sure they were straight and actually had to cut them down to size. The good thing about the brackets we used is they cover the ends so it’s OK if you have to cut them to size.
Eric taught me a trick to keep the shelves even. A quick way to see if the shelves are lined up is to drape a string over the top shelf so you can see that the sides are even. Of course, you should still use a level! Check what’s behind the wall before drilling. Make sure you are lined up with a stud and if you are near plumbing watch for pipes! We remembered there was a pipe RIGHT behind where we needed to screw in the left side of the selves. We couldn’t move the shelves because then they’d be off center, so we used shorter screws on the left side. Because we were only putting lightweight items on the shelves this hasn’t been a problem. Bathroom storage is officially checked off the “To-Do” list and I’m ready to move onto more projects!

I love the art prints & their sayings you have displayed. Your shelved turned out super cute, and I love that you went with the floating look.
